Computer repair biz uniforms?

Posted on December 31st, 2009 by admin

I have a computer repair biz (mostly onsite) that I have been operating for a couple years now which has been prospering well but I am looking at other methods to help my biz get noticed.

my computer biz name has a auto performance theme to it and I am thinking of having jumpsuits or coveralls made for myself and my employees with my business name and pit crew under my business name?

you may ask why jumpsuits or coveralls?

well it’s somthing different then what every other IT person in town is wearing and should draw some attention.

They do not require ironing.

compared to the cost of business casual clothing they are similar in price and with the attached pants I don’t have to worry about what my employees wear for pants.

dont have to worry about shirt getting untucked when bending down on floor to mess with a computer or reaching up for somthing.

would you mind having someone wear this into your home or business? opinions? is this a lame stupid idea?

Thanks
Thanks to those that have posted answers! just trying to come up with something diffrent that will stand out a little more than the polo shirts dress shirts that eveyone else wears.
somthing custom made like what is on this site. http://www.racesuit.com/racesuit/commercial.html

put on some computer software/hardware (i.e. Vista Ready) logo’s including my logo. would be a walking billboard! I don’t see how I could go wrong.

I’m a 2nd year stupid for CIS and i was previously in sales/marketing for over a decade. I LOVE the jumpsuit idea. For one, it is different than the button up tops of most repair services. for 2 it gives a less intimdating look and 3 it would make the computer tech seem more "sterile" Providing you find a color that will stay clean and something that breathes in the summer I think it would be very cool. But, I would try to find something that is wearable by the employees. I know we as a group of people have the ability to design about anything, and if your employees get to make, vote, and pick the design it would give them a sense of empowerment. I do love the idea though, and when I open mine, I’m gonna copy your idea for sure.

good luck man.

Computer software maintenance?

Posted on December 22nd, 2009 by admin

please could some on names some ways of computer software maintenance and what they do?. eg anti malware packages.

You mean ‘Windows maintenance’ I think.

If you want a maintained computer, you would download and install ubuntu. No malware, No fragmented files, No registry, No spyware, No need to buy a new PC every 3 years.

Oh, and it’s free….

5 stars for the best answer here please ;)

Want to start one person computer repair business, need a business license?

Posted on December 20th, 2009 by admin

I am 14, live in a small town and recently have thought fixing computers for profit (virus and software issues, not hardware).

Im just wondering if I would need a business license considering Im so young and wont be making all that much?

Also any entrepreneurial tips would be great!

Thanks, Kylar

Yes U need an occupational license through your local City Hall, but…………. I would not do that because of the exposure. Just stay under the radar & do good work.

How much should I charge for computer services?

Posted on December 17th, 2009 by admin

I already have some pricing set up, but I would like some feedback/suggestions. I do web design (HTML), but mostly PC repairs/upgrades. For example, how much should I charge to add RAM to a computer?

Thanks for any advice!

Call up the most well-known computer repair shop in the area and ask them what their price is, and cut it. I’m going to go half. I live in a small town, and there isn’t a single shop in town. Everyone takes their computers to a Best Buy to get them repaired. The prices are outrageous, and the results completely unsatisfactory.

$40 + the cost of the RAM to add it is good, I think. Seriously, it takes like ten minutes. If you’re slow.

I want to buy a motorcycle to use as my primary transportation for my computer repair business?

Posted on December 14th, 2009 by admin

I have a computer repair business in New York City and I am looking for a motorcycle that I will use to go to appointments, and transport computers. I already have a special case that mounts to any standard rear luggage rack, but I need a motorcycle! I am looking for a motorcycle that says "professional/utilitarian/fun"

It should be a relatively reliable bike–also nothing too sporty, nothing too much like a cruiser. Any ideas?

well I woudl suggest a good duel sport. These bikes are designed to carry luggage. They .are still light and capable in rain and snow. I listed a link below to a V Storm which I checked out not too long ago for cross country type riding. A lot of torque for stop and start traffic riding. space to attach water prrof saddle bags and a rear luggage and still have a passenger.

is there a japanese computer repair shop in vancouver?

Posted on December 12th, 2009 by admin

my friend broke her laptop. it froze and she manually switched it off. now when she turns it on it gives her the options of turning on with safemode, etc like any regular laptop but it won’t go to windows after that. the laptop is japanese and all the words are japanese. so if anyone knows of a japanese computer repair shop in vancouver, bc and could tell me, we’d greatly appreciate it.

Call any Computer Store in the Vancouver Yellow Pages.

Ask them if they have a Japanese speaking Technician.

I doubt that you’ll need to call more than 3.

What Are Good Computer Repair Business Names?

Posted on December 12th, 2009 by admin

I am trying to come up with good names for a computer repair business. It would have a physical store front where customers bring in computers for repair, come in to shop/buy accessories or used computers, and we would also go to their homes to do repairs.

Would love to get a ton of ideas!
