Is there any way to Run two different DHCP Services on two separate network adapters on the same computer?

Posted on March 30th, 2010 by admin

I want to administer Two separate networks with two DHCP Services on the same computer with two network card.
Thank You.

Of course, but each interface would have to be connected to seperate Network hardware. The User system would request the IP from the Router, so if both Interfaces were connected to the same Router, you would just get 2 IP’s from the same Network.

I assume that with this question, you know how to "administer" A network, much less 2.

Anyone use one of those home delivery new computer services?

Posted on March 29th, 2010 by admin

Where you pay by the week for a new home computer. How are they? Is the computer up to date? Are they really expensive?

I would stay away from places like that. You are going to end up paying 3 times the value of the computer. And places like that do not have very good tech support. At a lot of stores now you can put things like computers on layaway. You can avoid the high interest and finance charges. So if you can get by with what you have now for 6 months you will be money ahead by putting a computer on layaway.

Can i repair computers legally?

Posted on March 29th, 2010 by admin

I am really good with computers and a friend of mine suggested that i put up an advertisement in some local shops offering to fix people’s computers. I thought i could charge them a small amount of money to give myself some spare cash over the summer holidays. Am 17 and live in Northern Ireland and am just wandering if i can legally do this or if i would need to actually register as a business or whatever? Any advice would be appreciated.

There is no reason why you can’t earn extra cash doing repairs, just remember that you may have declare that income to the inland revenue and at the same time you should make sure you have the relevant insurance either public liability or professional indemnity

I repair computers for the public and how long would you think they would have to come pick up there computer?

Posted on March 27th, 2010 by admin

before it couldnt be reinbursts?

When I worked at the local PC shop, we had a form we printed out for every machine that was checked in. It stated that if you do not pick up your system within 60 days, then the PC becomes property of the store.

This is a legally binding document, so after 2 months then it’s your property.
I suggest typing up such a document and having people sign it before you work on their PC.

What software/hardware do you use to repair other computers?

Posted on March 25th, 2010 by admin

What tools do you people use when you fix other peoples computers? I’m creating a set of tools to use so I am more organized when doing it. I do it now and then for people and I’m gathering different resources for myself to save my self the hassle. If someone can give me some applications/programs they use to fix computers (Even application recommendations), please list them. Thank you.

Boot disks of all kinds (DOS, Windows, BartPE, Ultimate Boot Disk, Linux), Malwarebytes, Avast, CCleaner, MASM (to write and assemble little utilities, as needed), 7-Zip - I usually carry about 32GB of SD cards, all of them bootable.

What things do I need to do to keep the maintenance up on my computer?

Posted on March 12th, 2010 by admin

Hi! I would like advice on the things I need to do to keep my pc running smoothly. Like defragging, disc clean up etc.. And how often should I do these things?

Thanks in advance!

This subject is my specialty as I build super computers for fun and have one of the coolest ones around I know probably better than anyone especially here how to maintain a PC.
First off, a good virus scanner is a necessity, do not be tempted to get a free version online or use online scans or anything, pay for your scanner like the rest and get the quality you deserve instead of a halfway knock off that has an agenda.
As for Disk Cleanup and defragment, you may do these as often as you feel the need, however i always find it is best to do it only when you feel there is a problem with web pages not running right, browsers not acting right, programs running slowly or acting funny. Then you do the Disk Cleanup first, then the Defragment next.

Spyware, Anti Spy programs out there always offer this and that and some the people here have mentioned for virus scans and spyware cleanings or utilities are down right dangerous. Most either miss important ones that can kill your PC or have a secret agenda that reads your keystrokes or emails or bank numbers and reports all that back, or they work a short time then want you to pay to play.
Yahoo Anti Spy, is where I am at on this subject no if and or butts!! Free, 1000% accurate and safe, 1000% up to date, and 1000% on the job and catches every single spy, trojan, mal-ware, tracking cookie and worm. Has no hidden agenda, never asks for money or reports your doings. And is such a trusted name that it can’t be beaten.

Virus scanners: I love McAfee and have for 25 years, I will never use any other, I used Norton 2 times and had such a horrible experience and lost a PC hard drive to it once. I also used Kapersky, not really great when it doesn’t do what its supposed to do and constantly asks stupid questions.

Windows Defender/Windows Firewall: Use them they may save your life, you can even use them in course with the McAfee and keep the system in check.
Using Error checking: Go to Start, My computer and double click, in the list you will see C:/ right click C:/ and select properties and in tools you will find Disk Cleanup, disk de-fragment, and error checking. Error check is important since it is like disk defrag it reconfigures files and rechecks the disk surfaces for errors, then repairs the errors and fixes the hard drive disk somewhat. Do this every month. Do the disk cleanup and defrag if you like anytime, I do disk cleanup every 2 days and defrag once a week. I scan for viruses every 2 days and run Yahoo Anti Spy twice day.
I am slightly paranoid sorry.

You can clear browser history all you want if your internet runs slow too, it is in Safety.

I read a report on Glary and Malwarebytes you would be well advised all of you to leave these programs well enough alone, in tests they missed 45% of the problem files and trojans and in one instance missed a worm that could kill a system. You are being tricked by the people who want to take over your PC and I warned you. In comparison Yahoo and CA Anti Spy outperformed the both of them!!

I run AMD Phenom Black 955 3.2Ghz, MA 790X-UD4P Mo Bo, ATI Radeon 4890 HD, 8GB RAM, Windows 7, 500Gb HDD, Thermal Take Max Orb CPU Fan. On a 26" Sanyo. I network with another PC a retrofitted HP I modded and an xBox 360.

I want to start a Computer Repair business and I have questions…?

What kind of things might I need to know. I know alot alot of things about basic computer repair. Optimization, Security, the usual. But i want to be sure of what I might need to actually learn. I dont want to end up with a customer who wants me to do something and I have no idea what to do. Although i cannot think of a situation when this would happen, I know it will happen.
