Is the CompTIA A+ certification a real certificate and can it be used to get jobs in computer maintenance?

Posted on March 9th, 2010 by admin

I had some guy from home learning courses over today i sent him away saying ill think about it as i want to research first…he said that when i complete the course i can come away with a Comp TIA A+ Certification and apparently its the world standard to getting into computer maintenance etc…i just wanna know is this true? can this certificate really get me into the job i desire? or is this all a big lie just to get my money?

If you’re just getting started it is good for your resume. It shows you understand the basics of computers and networking.
A degree and an internship is much more valuable to hiring managers.

A+ is one of the most popular certifications in the IT industry and is CompTIA’s top certification and its possibly the most popular entry-level certification. My advice for a quick path into the job market would be to seek some type of administration cert… for more info visit http://www.comptia-220-702.com/

Skills USA Computer Maintenance Technology?

Posted on March 7th, 2010 by admin

I’m in the Computer Maintenance Technology competition in the Illonois State Conference. I was just wondering what the contest is like. I have the packet that says what it could be one but I was just wondering if anyone has actually gone there. Is it the A+ test and just repairing computers? Is there indentifying parts and other troubleshooting? Thanks

It would involve any kind or repair work.

What jobs can you get with an Associates degree in Integrated Computer Maintenance and Networking Tech?

Posted on March 4th, 2010 by admin

Many companies hire people to work on their help desks, looking after their workers’ computers. This kind of job can have a future, especially with a big company.

Some retail places (Best Buy Geek Squad for example) also have work in this area, so you can get a job on your resume.

When you get experience, you may be able to build your own business doing this.

There are relatively few women doing this kind of work, which turns into a real opportunity for you personally. You can make a point of how you listen carefully to a person’s problems, and find out why they’re frustrated, before you open up their computer box. Guys can be trained to to this, but as a group we tend to forget to listen.

Good luck.

What are a few good online courses for computer maintenance/repair?

CBT Nuggets have some of the best online training period. The have instruction on everything from the CompTIA A+ certification, Programming, Server Administration, Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE training. Great stuff if you’re willing to front the cash for it. You will pass any test if you watch and understand the movie series. Also another good site is Lynda.com

Would these skills fall under Computer Repair, or Maintenance?

Posted on January 31st, 2010 by admin

I’m currently in the process of trying to open a small business and trying to figure out what I should describe the category for these skills: Virus and Spyware Removal, Remote Backup, Desktop Cleaning (Inside components, fans, etc), PC tune up (removing junk files, tweaking registry, etc). I’m leaning towards maintenance, as that is what my business is going to be the primary focus on.

Yeah, that’s maintenance.

Computer software maintenance?

please could some on names some ways of computer software maintenance and what they do?. eg anti malware packages.

You mean ‘Windows maintenance’ I think.

If you want a maintained computer, you would download and install ubuntu. No malware, No fragmented files, No registry, No spyware, No need to buy a new PC every 3 years.

Oh, and it’s free….

5 stars for the best answer here please ;)

How does computer maintenance relate to life expectancy?

Posted on December 2nd, 2009 by admin

Trying to prove that by cleaning a computer, it will save a company (????) amount of money by expanding the life expectancy of a computer. Are there any statistic’s for that??

85% of computer failure is user error/ maintenance related. I literally just learned this last night in my senior level Computer Architecture class at Virgina Tech. let me see if i can find a source.

**EDIT** Its seems my memory lapsed. it says over 5 year 95% of costs are maintenance. I do not know where the study is from but i found a link to slides that match the ones my class is taught from. ill keep looking for the external source

How do I start to develope a computer programme for data related to servicing and maintenance of equipment?

Posted on November 14th, 2009 by admin

Please help me!!!!!!!…..I know nothing about programming the software…a complete guidance is required. I am even ready to learn programming.
I am having data on the excel spreadsheet , but excel is not solving my problem.

Maybe an existing templates from Microsoft Access, or FIlemaker will help?

Writing software will be difficult. You can also look for free inventory management software.
