How would I fix my computer virus without going to the repair shop? =S please help me!?

Posted on October 25th, 2009 by admin

My computer had gotten a virus before and I had to go to the repair shop to reformat my computer (reformat XP version to my computer).
This costed me money and time. I heard there is a CD that does the reformating, but i wasn’t sure and i was wondering if there was a free way to do this? Please help me! im su[per bad at computer, but its essential!

The CD used for reformatting is just the windows XP install CD, assuming you have one? It’s not difficult to do but it takes some time and wipes your drive clean meaning you have to reinstall your programs etc… I’d recommend you try to clean the infection before resorting to a reformat. There are plenty of free online forum style sites where computer savvy people can help you clean your PC for free. All you have to do is follow some instructions, you’ll almost certainly learn some things about viruses than can help prevent future infections.

Assuming you know how to navigate a forum check out the link below, read the "Pinned" articles on how to post your problem and someone will help you at no charge.

Computer repair shop scamming me?

Posted on October 17th, 2009 by admin

Well i know for sure my laptops GPU is broken and the shop i bought it from say I need a report for it. I took it to one shop and they confirmed it was the GPU but they don’t do reports. I took it to another one for a report and they say it is a software issue but I know it isn’t because i have reinstalled a million times. The second company made me pay 28 pounds for looking at it and wanted 50 for repairing it! I know they are scamming me but i cant prove it without carrying out the repair

Possible they are scamming but I dont belive that good shops open to rip customers off as they are there to do continuous business and hopefully aware that bad news travel fast. So, unless some do a full diagnosis hard to say what is wrong. Next time, please provide more details about your problem so people who respond have better idea. You could have hardware failure in which case you would not be able to see windows. A message will display way before hand. You could have bad disk drives, controllers, video card, RAM issues and even failed mother board. But if you can see windows and it keeps crashign it could be software related or bad device drivers.

I got used laptop from a computer repair shop.?

Posted on October 1st, 2009 by admin

When I play music through the internet like you tube there is static in the right channel. thought it might be a rattle in the speaker it’s still there. same thing when I hook it to the stereo. When I play a CD it plays perfect. Anyone know what causes this or how to fix it?

you can try upgrading the drivers but most likely its a faulty sound card

Affordable computer repair shop in Honolulu/Kaneohe?

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin

I need to replace the hard drive for my Compaq Presario CQ50. Can anyone refer me to an affordable and capable computer repair shop that will fix my laptop?

call 411

Can i backup files, delete them, give the computer to a repair shop then replace them?

Posted on September 27th, 2009 by admin

I need to have all the Documents and settings for all users deleted before it goes to a repair shop. Then when it gets back i need to put them all back….confidentiality stuff and whatnot.

I’m running xp pro btw

That sounds like a good plan to prevent casual snooping, unless they’re planning to run some forensics software on your computer.

I mite open a computer repair shop. Anyone have any good names I can call it? Thank you?

call it

COMPUTA REPAIR YOO (FOSHO)!!!

yeuh :]

I just got my computer back from the repair shop, and the batteries still won’t charge. What’s the problem?

Posted on September 23rd, 2009 by admin

The shop said that the AC adapter (the brick looking thing) was the problem, not the batteries (what I thought was the problem). I purchased a new AC adapter for $90, but my two batteries still refuse to charge; the computer doesn’t even acknowledge one of the batteries being in it.

What could be the problem? Could there be something that I am forgetting to do?

this is a laptop right?? try plugging in the ac to your laptop and take the battery out… it should still work because the power’s primary source is the ac unit first. If that doesn’t work, then something might be wrong with your pc, which would really suck. IF all else fails, just take it back to the place that "repaired" it first and show them first hand and see what they say.

do computer repair shops look at your hard drive?

Posted on September 21st, 2009 by admin

ok so my laptop is broken, (physically like keyboard is broken and the monitor has a problem). and my father is going to take it to a local computer repair shop, and he said he might also ask them to upgrade it. or reformat my computer. if the repairmen reformats my computer or does wwhatever my father tells them.. will they see my deleted histories on my hard drive? like traces of porn maybe, (will they even take time to look for those stuff?) and will they care?

If you ask them to back up the data, they might. If you have a picture folder and it has something llegal, would be a reason to be concerned. But deleted history files? Doubtful they would take the time to look at that.

If the "m" key on my laptop popped off and I cant get it back on, can a computer repair shop put a new one on?

I called dell and they said i would have to replace the whole key board…is that true?

SHouldn’t have to, look up custom keys to buy a new one.
