what licenses do I need to operate a home based computer repair business?

My clients are in multiple cities and I do go there to do repairs
None, you need a license for your home office so the town or city can OK it if there is going to be a good amount of people coming and going to your residents 2nd you will need a license to open a bank checking account, but other then that if you work out of you car and get paid cash you need nothing.
Go to you local office of license and tell them what you do and tell the you want a DBA license for your home address and that your clients are most out of state. Now you have a license to work out of your home for tax reason and you can open a bank checking account in a company name.

so long as no one will actually be coming into your house - probably just a local business license and state sales tax license - if you want to be able to have customers come into you house - you would have to go thru local zoning board and neighbors could protest it - it zoning allows it initially - mostly likely won;t allow it

Find a local office and go there. They can help you best since it’s probably a little different from state to state. You may just be classified as an independent contractor and not need a license.
