I thought about that long time ago. I found out that it is not a good idea if you don’t have a degree and not working for Apple or Microsoft or something like that.
Definitely don’t be an individual teach. I mean it is hard to run your own business in this industry these days. If you can join a larger group of technicians in a company then this would be a good career.
No, do not take this career if you want to climb up the ladder in a traditional way. You can be successful, but you are walking on ice. Be careful… If I was you, I would choose to be a computer tach or IT guy in an established company. I mean it could be any company such as printing companies, oil companies, transportation companies, etc. etc.
Anyway, don’t open your own little pc repair company… work for someone else is more secure. References :
You have a lot of naïve answers here. If you can work for a business as an IT person or a systems person, then you might do pretty good, but frankly they fix very little mostly they simply replace if the problem is not fixed quick, why? For the same reason that fixing computers for the homeowner isn’t a good job. Today the computers people have are cheap, they are not going pay very much to have them fixed, before they say the heck with it and buy a new one. References :
