being charged for computer repairs when nothing has been done?

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

my PC has been having BSODs ever scince i got it.
i sent it back for repairs 3 times yet nothing has changed first time they reinstalled windows XP costed $250 (due to purchase of XP) and i didn’t expect it to be fixed, second time they reinstalled windows costed $90 and they just ran simple diagnostics, third time they did the excact same thing, the computer has costed $1000 and $500 has been wasted of ‘fixing’ it.

is there anything i can do to ensure i get it fixed if i send it back again, i dont want them charging me that i can do in the comfort of my own home.
each time its a different message, it happens when ever it feels like it…

it appears tht you are not comunicating to the fixit guy, he is ripping you off blind because you are letting him.

You need to observe the computer, research for possible fixes here in answers to get clued up and familiar on what to talk about. When you take it to the shop you need to be clear and consise in what you want fixed, so you pay for it to be fixed.

They probably charged you 250 to put XP in because that is what you probably agreed for them to do. Meaning , yes put XP on thanks, with no memntion of actually fixing it.

So have a look at yourself and go forth young man.

    Hi,

Obviously if you used the same company each time then they are not doing there job and you should ask for your money back!

Now if you are having bsod’s then there is something wrong, so make a note of the error message when you next get one.

Or go into the control panel administrative tools, event logs and see what is reported there.

Then mail me with the info, such as your operating system, error message etc.

Sounds like they don’t know what they’re doing, it’s probably ram/PSU causing it, not the OS.

hey, i had this problem with BSOD now the only solution which acturely worked was delete ur whole hard-drive and re-installing windows this has worked for me and i hope you it works for you, you can re-install windows on your own without having to pay to be done but if this solution doesnt work then you have to take ur pc else where and have a new hard-drive fitted and installed. i hope you get your pc fixed. and i wouldd report them for fraud.

If I knew want the error message or error code. When you do get the error? When you open a program? At startup? Can you re-create the error very time?

Just guessing I think you have memory problem. If you can open the case and remove your memory sticks except for one. Run your computer, try to get BSOD. If you cannot re-create the problem then stick of memory is bad. Change out the memory, then run computer. Again try to create BSOD. Now you can. Problem solved.
