Computer Repair Rip-offs? - Not at www.geekteks.ca
Posted on July 16th, 2009 by admin
Rip-off? Not at http://www.geekteks.ca ! We offer a “You don’t pay unless we fix it” policy. Call 877.Geek.Tek (433.5835) for more info or please visit our website.
We at Geek Teks are very proud NOT to be ociated with the Geek Squad or any of the other companies mentioned in this video. We are very different. Read on to find out why some or our policies help maintain accountability within our company and keep us a very honest business.
All of our teks are highly experienced and therefore skilled. Our teks usually have at least three certifications: A+, Net+, and Sec+. Although we don’t feel the certifications are really the most important qualification of a good tek, we understand they are important in the eyes of most consumers. Finally, our teks undergo a complete and thorough background check.
Unlike the Geeksquad and other well-known computer repair service centers, not only do you not pay UNLESS we fix it, but also, you do not pay UNTIL we fix it. We do not charge your account UNTIL after we have obtained your signature on our invoice indicating your complete %100 satisfaction with both our service and charges as they appear on the invoice. By implementing these policies into the framework of our SOP, we are able to build trust in our business and renew consumer confidence.
Our company likes to be as transparent as possible to the consumer. Why? Because we have absolutely nothing to hide. See, when your an honest company, you can implement honest policies such as ours without fear of consumer fraud. We trust our customers and we know that our customers trust us. And that is just the way a good honest business in North America should run.

Please tell me this comment was written as some sort of po-mo art performance.
If you don’t understand what RAM as an acronym means, no amount of CompTIA tests will help you. You might pass your MCSEs though.

I understand that …
I understand that some consumers DON’T understand computers, but that’s NO excuse for dishonesty. Having worked in computers for several years now (own my own business), I take customers concerns as very genuine. If the machine is VERY old, I advise up front, “This machine is quite out dated.” I ask, “Are you sure you want to put more money into an outdated system?” But if they intrust their computer with me, I am totally honest with them. But my customers know I’ll do my best for them.

The other day the …
The other day the Geek Squad wanted to charge me $100 to secure a heat sink that was falling off my mother board! I took it somewhere else and they put a new clip on the motherboard FOR FREE! It took less than 2 minutes to fix that problem. I WILL NEVER USE BEST BUY’S GEEK SQUAD AND I DON’T RECCOMMEND IT. I will occasionally shop at Best Buy, but the Geek Sqaud is the biggest rip-off.

Alright, I’ve …
Alright, I’ve worked in computer retail before. And I’m not condoning lying… or, maybe I am… but it’s in the best interest for the customer.
We have people who bring in 20 year old computers. WHY DO YOU HAVE A COMPUTER THAT OLD. Computers should be kept for 5 years. Period. Suck it up, buy a new computer, or you will ultimately be investing more money in the end anyway.
I’ve worked with customers who have spent 1K on computer repair. IDIOT. Buy a NEW ONE.
