ok i have xp and 2gb ram but it consumes about 350 mb in idle state . is it normal. i want to delete some microsoft services and application services.but whenever i tried this my computer restarted . because some essential process had terminated. and it happens every time.
you need assistance of some software that are available in the market ,such as windows manager, tuneup utilities or any tweaking programs software.however, stopping services of something without the knowledge of how it affects the performance will have adverse effect.windows will not turn off services them self, you might have turned it off.you could get the knowledge of each and every service that is not required or most required by installing some tweak manager, and carefully go through its suggestions and turn it off or on, as according to your need.

Before deleting system services, make sure your pc is not infected by some malware. So first run some anti-malware programs & do a complete scan of your system, & if needed use combo-fix.
